First off, I just wanted to say that I thought the last ECCW show was very good, and wanted to congraulate the people on a good show. It was great to get a chance to meet Madison, Ray (after so long) and Scotty Mac during the show. It also ruled to find out our hero, Double M, is back with ECCW...hope I can make it out to the Island tour shows.
I almost cried during that Austin-Rock segment. How dare Rock hit him with the Rock Bottom after singing the Gambler, as opposed to, you know, HAVING A MATCH WITH HIM!?! Would it've killed WWF to at least try and hype this PPV?
I wish the WWF would just go back to the old fashioned way of doing things. Why a PPV a month? Why not go back to 5 PPVs a year? Now we get 0 build except for sometimes the main event, and even then we don't care.
After looking back over my past 20 years (b-day coming up, I'm allowed to flashback), I remember when I actually cared about PPVs. They'd start hyping the main event a couple months in advance, and every week we'd find out an extra match or two. It was like they were important. When it finally came time for the PPV, feuds were set; and you were excited. Now, it's just like a regular TV show.
I also remember growing up, wishing I could be involved in wrestling. I knew I couldn't make it as a wrestler; too small, not enough skill. But I didn't want to be a wrestler. I just wanted to do the ring announcing, or do play-by-play, or be a manger, or espically a referee (I'd be the ref at school just to annoy everyone with penalties). I remember watching all those great matches with Flair and yelling at the ref to wake up.
Why do I bring this up? Cause last weekend I had to do the same thing. It wasn't cause the ref "missed" the call, it was because the ref was asleep at the wheel and didn't realize he was supposed to enforce rules. By the time he did, he was giving 5 counts on armbars and chinlocks.
Why can't sports entertainment become wrestling again?
